About Us

Who We Are

"Taming the Monster of Postnatal Depression" is more than just a website; it's a safe space born from the lived experience and passionate advocacy of Kim Vermaak. Based in Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa, Kim is an accomplished entrepreneur, book coach, and storyteller who has dedicated years to helping thought leaders articulate their visions. As the host of the Write Learn and Earn Show, she has empowered countless individuals to craft impactful messages. However, this space represents a deeply personal chapter in Kim's journey. Having navigated the deep, isolating loneliness of severe postnatal depression, an often invisible struggle impacting countless women, Kim felt compelled to break the silence. Through her book, "Taming the Monster," and her powerful keynote talks and workshops, she shares her story of resilience, healing, and the reclaiming of her power. Our mission is to foster greater understanding, provide vital support, and empower individuals and organizations to address postnatal depression effectively. We aim to connect with mental health support groups, equip corporates with impactful mental wellness programs for working mothers, collaborate with dedicated NGOs, and offer solace and guidance to women directly facing this challenging experience. Drawing on the same insightful and authentic approach that has made her a trusted mentor, Kim's work challenges us to rethink how we support the women in our lives, our workplaces, and our communities. "Taming the Monster" is a call to action – to break the stigma, foster empathy, and build a more supportive world for mothers navigating the complexities of postnatal mental health. We invite you to join us in this important endeavor.

What is PostNatal Depression

Are you or someone you know feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or persistently sad after childbirth? Postnatal depression (PND), also known as postpartum depression, is more than the “baby blues.”

It’s a real and serious mental health condition that can affect your ability to care for yourself or your baby. You are not alone. Many new parents experience feelings of guilt, shame, or isolation, making it hard to seek help.

Support is available, and recovery is possible. Whether you’re a parent, HR manager, or caregiver, knowing the signs and encouraging professional support can make a life-changing difference. Everyone deserves to feel well.
